With fall sports coming to an end, some teams came close to achieving their goal of making it to state. Boys’ Football and girls’ Slowpitch both came super close to making it to state but ended up not making it. Not making it to the state playoffs has only made these two teams more motivated to destroy the competition next year.

Sehome Football needed to beat the Lynden Lions to make it to the state playoffs. Going into this game, Jacob Kaepernick (11) says this was one of the toughest teams,“Lynden will be our hardest game because they are really big and I don’t really know any other teams that are good,” Kapernick said. Although the team didn’t make it to state, they still had a great season. Max Pavlosky (12) says the team has gotten a lot better in the last five years at Sehome. “For three years we were a losing team, after gaining Coach Beason everything changed, we started to become a winning team and we couldn’t be happier,” Pavlosky said.

Girls Soft Pitch Huddle

Sehome Slow Pitch was one run away from making it to the state playoffs. Coming into the season, one of Haley Henderson’s (11) goals for the team was to make it to state. “Our goals were to make it to state and come together as a team, another goal was also to have fun and practice for fastpitch,” Henderson said. Not making it to the state was a bummer for the team but that didn’t stop Maryellen Burfeind (12) from having a great time. “The team was great and playing on the new field was amazing for the team,” Burfeind said.
